SWRD Bandaranaike 1971-1974
Currency Notes with UV Printing
UV printing was first introduce in the 1971-12-18 High denomination Rs
100 currency note with portrait image of SWRD Bandaranaike. This was
the only note issued before Republican constitution was adopted on
1972 May 22nd. The High denomination Rs 50 and Rs 100 continued subsequently.
The UV printing consists in Front of Multiple outlines of Flag Lion
with Sword in raised right paw, of different sizes and the numeric
denomination. In Back few wide vertical bands highlighting background.
From 1974-08-27 the Signature, Date and Serial Numbers were also
highlighted in UV at the same date the Lower denominations
Rs 2, Rs 5 and Rs 10 notes
got UV printing for first time.
The Visual notes were scanned at 300 dpi and displayed at 50 dpi.
UV images also photographed at about 300 dpi with a Cannon Power Shot SX620 HS
Full HD 20.2 Mega Pixel using 3 MB (2048x1536) mounted on a tripod and a UV lightbox,
mounted with two 8W 365nm wavelength 288mm long Fluorescent tubes.
