1979 - Sri Lanka - Flora and Fauna
Specimen Notes

The Central Bank of Ceylon (CBSL) issued, for circulation, in 1979 a series of currency notes on Flora and Fauna of Sri Lanka issued in 1980 August dated 1979-03-26 and based on the paintings of Laki Senanayake (1937-2021). Printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co Ld, New Malden, Surrey, England but printer name is not on the notes.

Pink 108x60 mmRs 2 note

Red SPECIMEN stamped in a diagonal upwards in front and downwards on back.

A 3 digit specimen control number is stamped on the back upper right edge in black as NNN
Normally a bundle of 100 are printed for distribution to local Banks.

A single punch hole in the middle space used for the signatures and date.
All of the Ceylon 1979 Specimens found on online Auction Archives curiously did not have the Dummy Serial Number, Date, or Signatures printed on them.

The 2021 CBSL 70th Anniv book has published images of 1979 000000 Serial notes(except the Rs100), but they don't have any SPECIMEN stamp on them.
