Grayscale essay of the Lower denominations with date 1st March 1951 Date scribbled on essay on card is 1951 March 28th. Has the legality statement with the words Legal Tender used on Ceylon Banknotes since 1941 September. These essays were probably almost final Essay before issue of Central Bank of Ceylon Rs 1 and Rs 10 Banknotes with date 1951 January 20th. The issue of the rest of the Denominations was stopped with the death of King George VI on 1952 February 6th.

Back Pictorial :  Guard standing with pot of plenty (punkalasa) in his left hand and in the other a sprouting branch complete with leaves, buds and flowers. A pair of midgets (Bahirawa) at on either side of his feet.

Front: Portrait of King George the VIth on left and space for watermark on right side. On top left of center CENTRAL BANK OF CEYLON. below which Serial Number with prefix and the legality statement This note is issued on behalf of the Government of Ceylon and is legal tender in Ceylon for the payment of any amount. Below centered in middle in large font VALUE RUPEES in two lines. below which the Date 1ST MARCH 1951. The designations MINISTER OF FINANCE on left with facsimile English signature of J. R. Jayawardena and GOVERNOR right with facsimile signature of John Exter. On either side value in Sinhala රුපියල්, on left, and value in Thamil ரூபாய் on right. Numeric Value in 4 or 3 locations. All within a rectangular decorated border and background,

The Rs 1 and Rs 10 are as issued but with change of date to 20th January 1951. The backs of all the Denominations as used by Bradbury Wilkinson for all the notes adopted in 1951.

The notes at xx and xx dpi and displayed at about 50 dpi if assuming height of 1952 notes of these denominations.
