Central Bank of Ceylon : 1950 to 1985

The Central Bank of Ceylon (CBC) was established in 1950 August 28 under the Monetary Law Act No.58 of 1949, as the monetary authority of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and the apex institution in the country's financial sector. It has the sole Autority to mint and issue Coins and BankNotes. It adopted the name in English, Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 1986 although that name had been adopted in Sinhala back in 1956.
