50th Independence Anniversary

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Sri Lanka regaining Independence and a polymer two hundred rupee note was issued dated 1998-02-04 on 1998, February, 4th together with three commemorative coins; a five thousand rupee gold coin, a one thousand rupee silver coin, a ten rupee bi-mettalic coin.

CBSL issued this Rs1000 currency note on 2009 November 17th to commemorate the Victory over the LTTE insurgency. It is dated 2009-05-20, which is two days after the Civil war ended.
