Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) was elected and assumed office as President on 2024-09-23. He is the leader of the leftist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) party and the National People's Power (NPP) alliance which next won the General Election held on 2024-11-14 with 159 of 225 seats in Parliament. The second cabinet took office on 2024-11-18, and he retained the position of Finance Minister like 4 of 6 presidents have done before him over last 3-decades.
CBSL Governor P. Nandalal Weerasinghe was appointed on 2024-04-07 continued in his six year term of office.
A Rs 500 note was reported to me from circulation on 2025-11-23
CBSL RTI 203/2025 has been submitted to obtain information on the 2025 ordering of notes of all 6 denominations from Rs20 to Rs5000 with new signatures and date 2024-11-18 in the "Development, Prosperity and Sri Lanka Dancers" theme dated 2024-11-18 with signatures of Finance Minister Anura Kumara Dissanayake and CBSL Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe.
When CBSL releases new signatures to circulation there should be a Press Release from CBSL to inform public of any change to the currency in circulation. This was not done previously when the signatures were changed in 2015-02-04, 2016-07-04, 2017-05-22 & 2019-01-28, 2019-12-24 & 2020-08-12, 2021-09-15 , and 2022-07-04 issues.
CBSL does not make available to collectors mint notes in folders like the 2010 issue which in 2023 August were sold out in the CBSL currency Museum. There is no mention of new signature in CBSL Museum which should have the responsibility to give the latest information to the public and collectors on coin and currency issue of Sri Lanka.

The number of 2024-11-18 dated notes first ordered from DeLaRue in 2025 was
given in reply to my RTI CBSL 0203/2025 on 2025-12-18.
No Order of Rs50 as the 2024 order of RW+NW had not yet been issued.
Total Number that would be issued with the 2024-11-18 date cannot be determined as
there could be future orders for notes bearing the same date and signatures.
Reverting to what was the usual case unlike for 2022-07-04 serial
numbers start from where the last order ended so that their will be
again cases as before of two different dates with the same prefix.
Please Help Track Prefix+Serial when Date on
Banknote change. Thanks.

CBSL does not do any Press releases, even for a new signature pair, a
change in crrency issue that should be legally announced by CBSL.
Glad to have collectors, checking and reporting, when new signatures are spotted in Circulation.
CBSL should make available new uncirculated notes
to collectors from the museum.
I thank Nirmal Gnanasunderam a member of SLNS who gave me a pair of
Rs500 notes had got from ATM of Sampath Bank, Narahenpita on 2025
December 5th. On Dec 18th I got one from ATM of Commercial Bank in Keels, Union Place.
